New bus stops
March 12th, 2008
Our new bus stops are being installed this week (poles today, flags tomorrow we expect). I hope you agree that they look really great. We’ll have timetables up on them by the weekend.
There will be extra capacity and some new services from Monday onwards to deal with the lack of capacity we’ve had over the last few weeks. Changes as follows on the weekday timetable:
Extra bus at 08.05 hrs
Extra bus at 17.45hrs.
In addition we changed some of the times as follows;
08.00hrs from Swords changes to 07.55hrs
18.07hrs from Swords changes to 17.55hrs
17.00hrs from City changes to 17.05hrs
17.15hrs from City changes to 17.20hrs
18.05hrs from City changes to 18.10hrs
Extra morning service
March 6th, 2008
We’re leaving people behind in the morning, and so we are adding an extra service. It will be at 7.55 am. The 8am service will be moved to 8.05am.
UPDATE: In the meantime, here’s some suggestions about the busiest services.
Port Tunnel delays
February 27th, 2008
The Port Tunnel is closed in both directions and this is going to cause major disruption during the rush hour (although we’ve been able to operate a basic service all day). We plan to deal with this by sending out two extra buses. We do not expect to be exactly on schedule, but we do plan to have enough capacity to get all our customers home. Update on timetable changes
February 27th, 2008
Timetable changes are working OK. We still have a problem in the peak with capacity. We will add an extra bus either Friday or Monday. Certain buses were full, as follows.
A bus every 15 minutes from 7.30 to 9.15 and 1645 until 1915
February 22nd, 2008
From Monday we are increasing our peak time frequency. There will be a bus roughly every 15 minutes during the peaks, and this will mean that the load will be better spread. (Because we didn’t have a service between 7.06 and 7.40 before and a gap again between 8.24 and 9 o’clock, there was a lot of overcrowding.)
We have changed our weekend services too. There is now a later bus on Saturday evenings (1951). We have reduced Sunday and Holiday services because of relatively low demand, but there is still coverage for the whole day.
The new timetable commencing Monday 25 Feb is below.

Extra buses for extra passengers
January 16th, 2008
We’ve been very busy for the last few days at peak times. As a result, we’re adding two extra buses starting tomorrow. There will be an extra bus from Swords to the city at around 0740 from tomorrow (Thursday) morning. It may depart slightly behind schedule depending on the loading of the bus before it. In the evening, there will be a bus departing Eden Quay for Swords at 1640 in the evening. We expect that these extra services will relieve the congestion on the main services. It will also mean a shorter gap between services between 4.06 and 5.09 which will be convenient for many commuters.
Taxsaver tickets on Swords Express
January 11th, 2008
We finally have our taxsaver tickets available for the Swords Express service. This means that you can have the convenience of a monthly or yearly ticket instead of having to fork out change every time you get on board, and means that you can travel on the service as much as you like for as little as EUR 1.40 a day when the tax saving is taken into account.
Christmas Services
December 20th, 2007
We will provide a full service every day over Christmas except for the following:
- Christmas Day (Tuesday 25 December)
- St. Stephen’s Day (Wednesday 26 December)
- New Year’s Day (Tuesday 1 January 2008).
All fares from the following days will go to local Swords Primary Schools so we especially encourage you to use the Swords Express those days:
- Sunday 23 December
- Saturday 29 December
- Sunday 30 December
We hope you will help make these the busiest weekends of the year so we can make a big contribution to schools in Swords!
Swords Express Christmas Present
December 18th, 2007
We thought about sending cards or giving out freebies, but decided that the best way to thank the people of Swords for their support over the last month is through supporting the children of Swords. We are going to donate all the cash fares we collect for three days to the primary schools of Swords. We are contributing all the fares for the following days: 23 December (next Sunday), 29 December and 30 December.
