Most commuters will be able to travel on the Swords Express for €3.50 with a ten-journey ticket. Other users travelling off peak will still only pay €3 euros. If you get a monthly or yearly ticket, you can get a lower price - 960 euros a year, which works out at €2.40 a trip if you travel twice a day, 40 weeks of the year. With the tax credit for commuter tickers, it’s even less.

I wanted to point this out because a group of customers rang me today about the price increase. I accepted their point that passengers might not have been sufficiently aware of the alternatives to paying the full fare. We’re now working to fix that.

There have been some problems with ticket machines and printing 10-journey tickets this morning, which we are working to sort out for this evening.

Asked for a ten journey ticket on 17.20 service from town. I was as told there were none so I refused to pay the €4 giving €3 instead. I think it is a disgrace to charge people the increased price when you are not ready with the cheaper alternative. Shambles really. I will continue to refuse to pay the €4 until the ten journey ticket is available.

Just to further my comment above, Antoin rang me back when I left a message on the helpline number. He explained that drivers should have been charging passengers €3.50 rather than €4 while the ten journey ticket is being sorted. This would be a fair arrangement. It is a bit sloppy not to have them ready for the required day. Having said that the`return call was very much appreciated and certainly something you wouldn’t get from Dublin Bus!!

When will the 10 Journey be available?

When will the 10 Journey be available? I paid €4 this morning, yesterday morning and yesterday evening.

I got a 10 journey ticket this morning on the 7:55AM bus.

That said though there should be a notice on the door or on the ticket machine saying they’re available.

I’d also suggest that on your next timetable print run you mark the times that are peak or off peak. Something like underlining the peak fares would make it simple to decide on whether to use the ten journey ticket or pay €3. A
lso if a bus is late and arrives in the non peak times do we pay the cheaper or more expensive fare.

On Thursday evening I asked the driver for a ten journey ticket. He didn’t seem to know what I was talking about. Oh deary me……….

For the 10 journey tickets can you clarify if they’re transferable?

On Dublin Bus if I had a 10 journey ticket I could insert it 5 times for 5 different people.

A guy hopped on the bus yesterday and bought a 10 journey ticket for his group. When he couldn’t use it for all the users he spent aaaaages complaining to the driver.

If I buy a 10 journey ticket I don’t need ID to use it so I can use it one day or give it to my other half the next. The companys not going to know or care so was the driver correct or incorrect yesterday to refuse to accept the 10 journey for 4 users. I would have assumed you’d just punch it 4 times.

Just wondering have you been set up by AIB so that their staff can avail of the tax saver ticket. I would imagine that there is a lot of potential business from the office in the IFSC.

    Thanks
