Route testing days

October 19th, 2007

We’ve been testing our route over the last two days. We’ve been surprised at how consistently and quickly we’re going to be able to bring our customers to town. A lot obviously depends on congestion, but we’ve been able to make the trip in 30 minutes quite frequently. (Of course, when the vehicles have to pick up paying passengers, it will take a bit longer.)

As important as the actual timing is that we can do this consistently. We chose our route especially so that we could avoid congestion and guarantee as well as we possibly could that the bus arrives on time, every time, even in bad weather conditions and even when Swords village or the city get really congested.

I must say that the trip to the city is really pleasant. Because we’re running on the motorway, everybody needs to be seated.  The seats on the vehicles we’re using are comfy and there’s a smooth ride.

Does everybody need to be seated? No standees allowed?

You buying secondhand buses from across the water or new tonnage?

    Will you be servicing Rivervalley?

Everybody is going to be seated, because we are running on the motorway. Also, it adds value to the service. The 30 or 40 minute trip is pretty pleasant when seated. You get back to Swords a little bit rested and refreshed in the evening.

We will serve the southern part of the bypass and the Dublin Road. I’m afraid there’s still a sensitivity about the route and it may change. Most of River Valley is within hundreds of meters walking distance of the route.

As for the vehicles, more on that later …

You say your route is still sensitive however as this new express route is the cause for the 41X not longer being allowed through the tunnel, will you at least consider starting from Swords Manor or actualy force us to go down to the village?

    Hi Odin,

Yes will consider providing a service in that area if we can find a way of doing it. I have emailed you.

    Antoin.

I certainly hope the 41x will be able to resume through the tunnel, in order to serve the residents of Rivervalley, after this complete farce so far.

What a pity you’re not going to be going through River Valley. Despite their annoying strike, looks like I’ll have to stick with Dublin Bus.
